Dubai going forward in 2016

There are lots of new projects underway in preparation for the Expo 2020 Dubai event.

The ‘Museum of the future’ is set to be finished in 2017 which will contain cutting edge technology and will also be able to host conferences.

Bluewaters Island which will contain the world’s tallest Ferris wheel and retail, residential, hospitality and entertainment areas and is expected to attract at least three million visitors per year.

Dubai theme parks is due to open in October 2016 and will host 3 theme parks: Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks and Legoland Dubai.

Deira Island project plans to add 21km of beachfront to Dubai’s coastline, a night souq with over 5,000 shops, and at least three hotels have already been confirmed.

MBR City - District One – which will contain residential areas due in phases to be completed for Expo 2020 Dubai and will also contain lagoons, the world largest artificial beach and a 14 kilometre boardwalk. 

Dubai is trying to reduce their carbon footprint making them greener. Dubai Green Economy Partnership is looking at ways in which to do this.

The 3rd Annual Arab Future Cities Summit 2016 will be held in November in Dubai. Dubai has been ranked as one of the most innovative cities in the world. The aim is to become the smartest by looking at six key components - transport, communications, infrastructure, electricity, economic services and urban planning.
